- Holistic therapy without the need for conventional drugs or surgery
- Based on the premise that nature governs health & its laws – balance between species, natural nutrition, pure water, unpolluted fresh air, sun exposure, rest & sleep
- When the body deviates from this balance, naturopathy uses natural remedies like plants, herbs, flower essence, minerals & essential oils to stimulate the body’s ’self healing’ mechanism
- Is not a replacement for veterinary care, as a vet is required for diagnosis & treatment
- Is beneficial for behavioural disorders & chronic diseases to meet vitamin & mineral requirements through nutrition
- Energy therapy works on the animals nervous & autonomic system, healing them through emitting a electromagnetic wave of frequency which the practitioner is trained in
- Reiki & touch therapy rebalances energy in the animal
- Flower therapy heals due to the energy present in specific flowers (e.g. calming a hyperactive animal down, or giving vitality to a depressed animal) the practitioner has specific knowledge on which flowers are best to use for the animals condition
- Animal naturopathy focuses on the entirety of the animal – diet, activity, routine, environment, stress- not just symptoms, which is helpful for targeting the root cause of a condition
What’s holistic?
- Natural healthcare regards the mind & body to help fight disease
- Disease is the result of imbalanced energy
- Symptoms are a manifestation of a emotional blockage
- It’s crucial to understand the individual living environment of the animal; where an animal lives has a unique effect on their health
How disease in animals starts:
Disease is influenced by emotional, physical state, genetics, living environment (diet, activity, pollution). Animals with disease have a blockage to be released, to then restore proper functioning of their immune system.
- Disease appears when the body does not absorb the nutrients it needs to regulate a strong immune, when it’s weakened it’s unable to expel excess toxins or diseased cells
- Regardless of the symptoms, they will persist until the immune has finished cleansing the body
- This purification depends on the functioning of the fluid systems (blood, lymph, kidneys, urinary tract)
- These systems are overwhelmed and exit through the airways and skin instead
- Toxins are expelled in mucus from nose, mouth, eyes or ears through orifices
Terrain & emunuctories:
- The blood contains antibodies B lymphocytes and the 4 immunoglobulins – IGA, IGE, IGG & IGM- (Y-shaped proteins produced by the immune system’s B cells to identify and neutralize foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses)
- As well as secondary cells, K cells, phagocytic cells, & catalysers like properdin (regulates inflammation)
The cell-mediated immune system, is composed of T lymphocytes, macrophages, lymphokine’s, monokines & cytokines
- They all work together in synergy to eliminate any agents capable of harming the body: viruses, bacteria, toxins, parasites or diseased cells
Their functioning depends on the nervous and endocrine systems. Diet, activity, routine, environment, stress> if compromised, require rebalancing for healing
- the immune is present in digestive, respiratory, mucus membranes & skin
- A collection of systems, organs and functions to remain in good health
- However it only takes 1 distressed organ to disrupt this complex mechanism
The ‘terrain’ is all the fluids that enable the circulation of molecules, and messenger’s in the immune system-
Includes the blood, lymph & cerebrospinal fluid.
- the emunctries facilitate the elimination of pathogens neutralised by the immune. They are in four structures:
- The skin
- Liver & intestines
- Lungs & respiratory system
- The kidneys
The purpose of an animal naturopath is to restore proper functioning of the terrain & the 4 emunctories, to facilitate self healing in an animal. As well as providing preventive care plans & natural remedies, avoiding harsh drugs.
