Ingredients in commercial pet food causing chronic health conditions:

Corn flour, wheat flour & soybean – all linked to pet allergies, cancer & hyperthyroidism.

These ingredients are present in most pet commercial foods as binders & fillers – they are top allergens (especially wheat flower causing itchy skin, sores & gastrointestinal upset) cornflower leads to digestive upset & soybean has been linked to thyroid issues, disrupting thyroid function in cats. Most of these issues are caused due to the high sugar & carbohydrate content, lacking crucial nutrients, in turn causing long term damage.

These ingredients are not digested or metabolised well by animals, however are consistently used in diets, triggering chronic health issues – they may not happen overnight which is often why pet owners do not see the risk in buying these products for their pets.

Often, it is not the pet owners ignorance, rather the pet food marketing is a ploy & are dishonest.

Inflammation is the result of these ingredients long term- inflammation leads to cancer, heart disease, joint degradation, IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), kidney or liver failure.

It’s important for owners to understand that added vitamins on the pet food bag does not mean it is good for the animal. The added vitamins are cooked at high temperatures, they lose nutritional value, meaning dry food holds no nutritional benefit.

Awareness is for pet owners to start either checking for these ingredients or opt for the safe option which is to cook for their pets using organic, fresh, quality food.

Always slowly introducing new food as even fresh food can upset stomachs – and that animals can initially go through ‘a healing period’ where the gut is detoxing with the fresh food added, which sometimes can cause mild diarrhoea- however usually should only last up to 3 days.

To avoid allergies & to support a strong immune, it’s recommended to rotate animal proteins weekly (including fish no more than 3 times a week) – this helps prevent development of food sensitivities and provides a wider variety of vitamins & nutrients.
